Soda firing - Atmospheric firing - gas and chemicals combined to make “soda’ produce the effects on the work.  In this firing you can have beautiful results without glazing a piece.  You can also use glaze to color your pots, but the introduction of soda yields to chemical reactions/combinations that yield the unpredictability of colors and patterns.  Soda is added at intervals once kiln has reach 1800 degrees.
